Case 1: constructing an empty submodel
- Click on the
submodel symbol on the toolbar.
- Move the mouse into a blank area of the screen.
- Drag the mouse diagonally (the submodel envelope will drag with you) until you have enclosed the area you wish to contain the submodel.
- Release the mouse button.
- You can then insert model elements in the normal way into this space; or you can load a Simile model in from file.
Case 2: enclosing existing submodel elements in a submodel
- Ensure that the elements you wish to enclose in a submodel envelope are arranged in a group, so that it is possible to enclose them in a rectangle without also enclosing model elements that you do not wish to be part of the submodel.
- Click on the submodel symbol in the Simile toolbar.
- Move the mouse into a blank area of the screen.
- Drag the mouse diagonally (the submodel envelope will drag with you) until you have enclosed the elements you wish to include in the submodel.
- Release the mouse button.
