Simile 6.7p5: fails to copy diagram with macOS Sierra

Component:User interface
Category:bug report

I am testing out the new version of Simile before my undergraduate class
in Jan 2017. The Copy Diagram option on the macOS version of simile6.7p5
(teaching edition) doesn't appear to do anything (e.g. cannot paste into
a word document).

Is this a bug? And if it is, is there a solution?

In the past students have had similar issues with earlier versions of
Simile. The work around has been to capture an image of their screen.

Kind regards

Yes, it's a bug. The API for putting graphics on the clipboard in MacOS was just too difficult to access in TclTk. It's mentioned in the README for the Mac version.

It's been a long time since we looked at it though, so I'll have a look to see if anything has changed that might make it easier.

In the mean time, you can continue to use screen capture to copy the model diagram, or alternatively, select File -> Export -> PostScript graphics to create a diagram file that will open in the PDF viewer and and allow you to copy it to the clipboard from there.

You can also export the model diagram as an SVG image, which is better suited for including in web pages.
