Hodgkin-Huxley equations

This model was created by Dr. John Fowler, of Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, and implements the Hodgkin-Huxley equations describing currents across a neuronal membrane that contribute to the action potential. Hodgkin and Huxley published this model in 1952 and received the Nobel Prize in Physiology/Medicine, in part for this work, in 1963. Dr. Fowler has added an additional conductance from work by Connor and Stevens, 1971.

This graph shows a simulated action potential triggered by an injection of current at t=10 msec. Using the model, the underlying currents can also be graphed to determine their contribution to the action potential.
