copy and paste submodels

I assumed that if I select a submodel to copy and paste that all the variables within that submodel would also go along with the paste. This doesn't appear to be the case. Any tips on how to quickly and easily paste a submodel from one model to another?

If you drag over the whole submodel all the variables in the submodel should go blue, as well as the submodel boundary, showing that they are selected. Copy and paste should then include all the variables.
