Import PHPBB forums

Can't import existing users

  • change phpbb simulistics members new names $(oldname)BB
  • delete phpbb users that haven't posted

Drupal Forums not limited to a group but posts are.

could use http://drupal.org/project/og_forum private forum for each group (make public?)

  • was private, on Drupal as imported any registered user can read and post
  • could make group and change post audience to prevent others reading but they could still create post
    • do we care - quite good for it to allow public viewing and possibly posts but still be able to make private
  • delete group? not used for 3 years
  • could recreate new as new group with og_forum - check with Robert
  • bad place to make announcements to as they won't be read now
Get rid of forum grouping?
  • All will have something to do with Earth, environmental and life sciences (EELS) (Simulistics by-line) for now - or longer
  • hosted forums - deleted now - can be og_forums later
  • I would like Simulistics website to be in with the Simile and Models but it is more removed from EELS
  • if change groupings (containers) the urls change
Should open Simulistics website forum up to everybody.

Should enable url forwarding from old phpbb forums

phpbb users and forums migrated except the Scottish Agriculture Modelling Forum. We can create a group with or without a forum at some time later for these users. The Simile and Models forums with the new Simile website forum are now in the "Main Forum" container instead of "Earth, environmental and life sciences".

Any registered user can post in the Simulistics website forum. Users can designate the audience (groups) that may see their posts.
