What's new in Simile v4.9?
Released 29 June 2007
Simile 4.9 corrects several minor problems with the previous version, and has a few significant improvements over Simile v4.8:
Model code generation
- The circularity checking, sorting into time steps and assignment ordering stages of program generation have been made a lot quicker
Platform-specific issues
- The Linux version is now compiled with GLIBC 2.3 libraries, in order to be compatible with older distributions as well as the latest ones
Diagram editor improvements
- When dragging scaled submodels, the movement of the model is now proportional to the mouse movement (previously it was also scaled)
Equation handling
- New functions with_greatest(x,y) and with_least(x,y) allow one value (e.g., its index) to be picked from a submodel instance with the greatest or least value of another variable
External datasets
- Individual Simile parameters can now be set from files containing two-dimensional grids of data items, either as .csv files or as a wide range of image formats
- In earlier versions, a cryptic error message could be produced if a parameterization (.spf) file was moved to a different directory without also moving the data (.csv) files to which it referred. This message is now more helpful.
