Hi,
I am a licensed user for Simile (41f6132f, last two digits of license removed, DR H PALIKE), but are unable to get Simile 5.8 started. In addition, it seems that my account (hp201) is not associated with my license.
When I start Simile on MacOS 10.7.2 (on my laptop only), I get an error message as follows:
"Simile encountered an unexpected problem: can't read "userinfo(name)": no such element in array"
and under "more info":
Simile encountered an unexpected problem:
can't read "userinfo(name)": no such element in array
The error was:
can't read "userinfo(name)": no such element in array
while executing
"list name $userinfo(name) corp $userinfo(corp) final_expiry $env(user,final_expiry) days_after_install $env(user,days_after_install) edn $env(user,..."
(procedure "ControlDraw" line 120)
invoked from within
"ControlDraw {GNU Prolog 1.4.0}"
invoked from within
"catch $args retVal"
I have tried deleting the preference plist files to no effect.
Best wishes,
Heiko

I just had another report of a very similar sounding problem -- see http://www.simulistics.com/node/4067
I was assuming that some files saved by Simile had just gone missing, but perhaps it is something else to do with OS X 10.7, which we do not yet have here.
Did you only just install Simile, or did you upgrade the OS to 10.7 after installing it?

Hi,
the answer in the other thread solved my problem:
I have a desktop and laptop installation, both on 10.7.2. The desktop one ran fine, but the laptop one didn't. After copying the simile work directory at ~/ from my desktop to my laptop, it is now running, too.
Many thanks for your help.
Regards,
Heiko

I've downloaded the program but I can't open it to start the installation.

@vigiri, it should open just by double clicking on it. Do you get any message when you try this?
