Hi,
I am receiving an error everytime I start Simile v6.6 on my Mac (El Capitan 10.11.4). The program starts for a second and then immediately stops or crashes. I've checked the Console and one of the messages that appears whenever I open Simile is:
Simile[15876]: WARNING: The Gestalt selector gestaltSystemVersion is returning 10.9.4 instead of 10.11.4. This is not a bug in Gestalt -- it is a documented limitation. Use NSProcessInfo's operatingSystemVersion property to get correct system version number.

How can I fix this issue?

I am also unable to start Simile after upgrading from 10.11.3 to 10.11.4. It appears that Apple have left out the files for the Tk Img package from the new OS version. If I include the missing files in Simile it starts and runs OK. I will release a patch version with the files included and let you know when that is ready for download. Some users have a separate, more up-to-date version of TclTk installed on their Macs (e.g., ActiveTcl) and they will not be affected by this problem.
I also get the message about the Gestalt selector in Console, but Simile is not affected by this error -- it also appears when Simile starts normally.

I've now uploaded a new 64-bit MacOS version with the missing files included -- please repeat your original download instructions to install it and reply if there are any more problems.

Thanks for the quick response! However, I am running into another issue when I open Simile now. This is the error message I get when I try to initialize the program:
Simile encountered an unexpected problem:
Could not find an unpacker for Simile -- dlopen(/Applications/Simile v6.6 64-bit.app/Contents/Resources/System64/lib/Stubs/libunpacker6.6_mac.dylib, 10): Library not loaded: @executable_path/../Frameworks/Tcl.framework/Tcl

The error was:

"error "Could not find an unpacker for Simile -- $dummy""
(procedure "ControlDraw" line 91)

Is there a specific program I need to install (the unpacker in the error)?

I already got a report of this new error, and uploaded a new Mac 64-bit version to fix it at about 12:00 UTC yesterday. I haven't yet heard back from the original reporter whether it works or not -- for some reason the problem does not occur on my own Mac. If you downloaded it before 1pm yesterday, please try again -- if not, or if the current version fails, please report back.

It's now confirmed that this is fixed.
