V 5.6 under windows not starting

Hello!

I recently the downloaded V5.6 demo version for windows.  I am running under XP Professional service pack 3 on a Dell laptop.

Similie starts, shows the "splash screen", and then quits.  When I run task manager, I can see a process running for simile.exe, but no application.

Any help would be appriciated.

Thanks, Will

Simile v5.6 released

Simile v5.6 was released on 22nd December 2009. This release fixes a few problems that have come up as Simile starts to be used on machines using a wide variety of international character sets, particularly on the newer versions of Windows where these characters are more likely to occur in installatio directory names. We urge everyone who has had problems in the past with special characters to try installing the new version.

including the SIMILE .dlls in .NET applications

Hi there,

I want that our mDSS .Net application to interface to Simile models at the dll level, and I did understand that I need to use the 5-D interface. How can be done? How can I load, execute and interrogate Simile models at run time in .Net environment?

Thank you in advance,

George Cojocaru

Parallel computing in SIMILE

I'm currently developing a large seagrass growth model for Tampa Bat Fl.  I have created a unit model and have coupled it to a hexagon grid. For the detail that I need I use 1000000 hexagons which will make the model run for ever.  However i am considering dividing up the Bay into 10 to 20 more locallized hexagon  grids that I could run in paralell using the a single unit model.  Is there any way to do this within SIMILE or am I going to have to be more creative.

Running models : Working with visualization tools : Edit sketch graph function

Standard helpers : edit sketch graph function

If your model contains equations that use the graph function, their function can be altered while the model is running. The tool for doing this appears as a helper, although it does not display values from the model or directly set them.
