This template is for modelling the flow of some substance between multiple layers. A typical application would be for modelling the flow of, for example, water or heat between soil layers.
The left hand menubar is too long at present and the user has to scroll down the page (often beyond the page content) to see some of the items.
Having a horizontal menu is approved of especially with the idea of the LH menu being localised to suit the horizontal menu selection. The LH menu being headed with the current top level section title.
Drop down items on the horizontal menu bar would give a quick over view.
